          BIOGRAPHY

   Nancy (ballroom dance alias Nonci) is a multi-faceted artist who creates performing art from a state of power and magic.  She is inspired by her love of psychology, literature, nature and an endless fascination of the human quest for life, love and hope.

 

     As a classically trained dancer, Nancy has shared the stage with such world-renowned artists as Renee Fleming, and Deborah Voigt to name a few.  She was cast in numerous productions as a principal dancer  in Baltimore and at the Kennedy Center Opera House stage with the  Washington Opera in such productions as La Traviata, Lucrezia Borgia, Lakme, The Bartered Bride, The Flying Dutchman, Die Fledermaus, Aida, Hamlet, Macbeth, Andrea Chenier, SHOWBOAT, Cenerentola, Madama Butterfly, OTELLO , Samson & Delilah, and most recently CARMEN  (May 2022).  Her classical training began in San Diego working with Maxim Tchernychev and Hyunmi Cho.

   As an acclaimed choreographer,  she has founded NFT Dance Theatre & Company a freelance dance troupe comprised of artists from local DC dance companies including the The Washington Ballet and Teatro de Danza Contemporanea. She is an inaugural graduate of the Dance Icons Choreographic Institute in Washington DC and is the Mark Ryder Original Choreography Grant recipient for 2018. Her graduate thesis work APOTHEOTIK, along with NOC-tURNE has been invited to participate in the Atlas INTERSECTIONS Festival, Washington DC. NOC-tURNE premiered three new works and her new film project the Black Rose has been selected to be screened in the US and Argentina.  She assisted choreographer Vladimir Angelov in numerous ballets for the Indianapolis Ballet, Richmond Ballet, Washington Ballet, Arizona Ballet and Tokyo City Ballet. She enjoys collaborating with local charitable organizations including The Alzheimers Memory Ball and DC'S Dancing With the Stars.

 Nonci Tirado is an esteemed World-Class Professional Champion Latin dancer with numerous US titles, including: US Latin National Finalist, North American Champion, Eastern US Champion and US Rising Star Champion and last but not the least US Pro/Am Latin Champion (Nonci as the Pro). She was also the Undefeated Fred Astaire National Latin Champion. She performed abroad with former US Champion Rick Valenzuela (Japan), former US Latin finalist Marco Mechelke (Costa Rica, Germany) and former Dutch Grand Prix finalist Ariel Rad (France).  She has trained with Latin-ballroom giants Espen Salberg, Ron Montez, Ruud Vermeij, Julie Laird and numerous others. 

Nonci is a theatre and film actor. She has been seen in numerous television, film and stage works locally for The Shakespeare Theater (Twelfth Night) and Gala National Hispanic Theatre  (House of the Spirits) and most recently at 1st Stage (MOJADA). Motion pictures works include  Dance With Me directed by Randa Haines and Barry Levinson's Avalon.  Her dance film project for which she wrote, directed and produced is an Official Selection of the Festival Internacional VideodanzaBA in Buenos Aires, Argentina and was a Judges' Finalist Choice at the Born in Baltimore Film Festival sponsored by the Johns Hopkins Film and Media Studies Program. She performeded with the stars of TV hit show “So You Think You Can Dance” – Benji Schwimmer, Sabra Johnson and Jamal – at the DAR.
